10^th AGM of ActionAid International Bangladesh Society held

Dhaka July 27 2022 : 

The 10^th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ActionAid International Bangladesh Society (AAIBS) was held online on 26 July 2022. Members of the General Assembly, Executive Board, participants, and observers joined the AGM from different parts of the country, as well as from abroad. The meeting was convened by Anowara Aana Aman, member of General Assembly and Executive Board of AAIBS.

The meeting commenced with one-minute silence in remembrance of late Syed Nurul Alam, General Assembly member of AAIBS.

The Chairperson of AAIBS, Mr. Manzoor Hasan OBE, in his opening speech welcomed the newly elected Executive Board Members- Anowara Aana Aman, Taslima Yasmin and Rebecca Sultana. He looked forward to them becoming an integral part of board and governance of AAIBS and further the mission, vision, and values of ActionAid.

Farah Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh, and the Ex-Officio Secretary of the AAIBS Executive Board, appreciated the contributions of the members of the General Assembly and the Executive Board. She mentioned that they played a significant role in ensuring the resilience of the organization, enabling it to deliver on its commitments to the community and all other stakeholders. She reminded all present that board and governance of ActionAid is a unique feature in the landscape of INGOs in Bangladesh.

The General Assembly Members approved the Annual Audit Report of the organisation for the year 2021 and appointed the Principal Auditor for the year 2022. Major achievements for policy influencing, programmatic innovation, partnership and fundraising have been captured in the Annual Report 2021 which was approved by the General Assembly during the AGM. The meeting was adjourned with the announcement of next year AGM to be held in 2023.

একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি এর ১০ম বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত

একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি – এর ১০ম বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয় গত ২৬ জুলাই, ২০২২ তারিখে। এবারের আয়োজনটি করা হয়েছে ভার্চুয়াল প্ল্যাটফর্মে যেখানে সংগঠনের নির্বাহী ও সাধারণ পরিষদের সদস্যরা দেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চল এমনকি প্রবাস থেকেও যোগ দেন। এই বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভার আহ্বায়ক ছিলেন একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি এর নির্বাহী বোর্ড ও সাধারণ পরিষদ সদস্য আনোয়ারা আনান আমান।

 একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি এর সাধারণ পরিষদের সদস্য, প্রয়াত সৈয়দ নুরুল আলমের স্মরণে ‘এক মিনিট’ নীরবতা পালনের মধ্য দিয়ে শুরু হয় এবারের সভার কার্যক্রম।

একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি – এর চেয়ারপার্সন, জনাব মনজুর হাসান ওবিই  তার বক্তব্যের শুরুতে নতুন নির্বাহী বোর্ড সদস্য- আনোয়ারা আনান আমান, তাসলিমা ইয়াসমিন এবং রেবেকা সুলতানা কে স্বাগত ও শুভেচ্ছা জানান। নবনির্বাচিতদের সংগঠনের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ হিসেবে উল্লেখ করে একশনএইড-এর লক্ষ্য, দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি এবং মূল্যবোধকে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া এবং তাদের দক্ষতা ও অভিজ্ঞতা দিয়ে সংগঠনকে শক্তিশালী করার আহ্বান জানান তিনি।

এসময় একশনএইড বাংলাদেশ-এর কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর এবং একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি এর নির্বাহী বোর্ডের সচিব, ফারাহ্ কবির, নির্বাহী বোর্ড এবং সাধারণ পরিষদের সদস্যদের প্রতিষ্ঠানে অসামান্য অবদান রাখার জন্য প্রশংসা ব্যক্ত করেন। ফারাহ্ কবির বলেন সদস্যরা সংগঠনের রেজিলিয়েন্স নিশ্চিতকরণসহ কমিউনিটি ও বিভিন্ন স্টেকহোল্ডারদের দেয়া প্রতিশ্রুতি রক্ষায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন। তিনি আরও বলেন, একশনএইড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটিতে নির্বাহী বোর্ড ও সাধারণ পরিষদে অন্তর্ভুক্তি, বাংলাদেশে কর্মরত আন্তর্জাতিক বেসরকারি উন্নয়ন সংস্থার মধ্যে একটি অনন্য বৈশিষ্ট্য স্থাপন করতে পেরেছে যা সকলের জন্য অনুকরণীয় হতে পারে।

এই সভায় সাধারণ পরিষদের সদস্যদের সম্মতিতে  সংগঠনের ২০২১ সালের নীরিক্ষা প্রতিবেদন ও বার্ষিক প্রতিবেদন গৃহীত হয় এবং একই সাথে ২০২২ সালের নীরিক্ষক নির্বাচন করা হয়। পরিশেষে, ২০২৩ সালে পরবর্তী বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভার ঘোষণা এর মধ্য দিয়ে এবারের সভার সমাপ্তি টানা হয়।
