Bangabandhu Bay of Bengal Festival-2022 held celebrating World Oceans Day

As part of the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAFE, Department of Shipping and Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute jointly organized Bangabandhu Bay of Bengal Festival -2022 at Cox’s Bazar on June 8 2022.
Sajjadul Hasan, Senior Secretary (Retd.), Prime Minister’s Office and Chairman, Board of Directors, Biman Bangladesh Airlines was present as the Chief Guest at the Festival. Rear Admiral (Retd.) Md. Khurshed Alam, Secretary, Maritime Affairs Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Md. Ali Kadar, Chairman, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and Commodore Abu Jafar Md. Jalal Uddin, Director General, Department of Shipping were present as special guest on the occasion.
A seminar on Bangabandhu, Bay of Bengal and Blue Economy was held at the auditorium of Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute. Rear Admiral (Retd.) Md. Khurshed Alam, Secretary, Maritime Affairs Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the keynote address at the seminar.
An open discussion and Q&A session was held at the end of the seminar.
The programs of “Bangabandhu Bay of Bengal Festival-2022” included beach cleaning, volleyball at Sugandha Beach Point in Cox’s Bazar, Surfing at Kalatali Beach Point, opening and closing ceremony at Laboni Beach Point.
Mashiur Khandaker, Chief Coordinator, Bangabandhu Bay of Bengal Festival-2022 addressed the closing ceremony. Later certificates were distributed among the participants.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the landmark steps taken by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to develop the country’s marine resources and the blue economy in fulfilling its promise to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
They pledged to work relentlessly for the realization of the dream of golden Bengal as envisioned by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
