Bangladesh-Cambodia bilateral talks held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation in Phnom Penh today.
HFM Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen MP & Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister & HFM H. E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn led the respective delegations.
The two Foreign Ministers discussed the important aspects of the bilateral relations between Bangladesh & Cambodia.
Stressing the geo-strategic importance of Bangladesh as the connecting bridge between South Asia & South East Asia, Dr. Momen expressed his keenness for further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and called for adding further substances to it.
The two sides reviewed, inter alia, the areas of cooperation in trade, commerce, investment, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food security, manpower, ICT, tourism, cultural exchange etc. Both the sides agreed to make efforts for enhancing the bilateral trade, which is currently much below the potentials.
They also emphasised on concluding the diverse MoUs under process at the earliest. Both the sides agreed to have more high level visits to add further momentum to the bilateral relations.
Dr. Momen requested Cambodia to play a more proactive role for expediting the repatriation of the stranded Rohingya people from Bangladesh to their homeland in Myanmar. The discussions were held in a very cordial & friendly atmosphere.
