Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul observed ‘Sheikh Russel Day’ 2021 on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul observed ‘Sheikh Russel Day’2021 on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 18 October 2021 with spontaneous participation of Bangladeshi children living in Korea along with the officials of the Embassy and their family members and expatriate Bangladeshis living in the Republic of Korea following the ongoing social distancing measures.
The day’s programme commenced with offering of floral wreathe by the Ambassador at the portrait of Sheikh Russel.
A special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed soul of Shaheed Sheikh Russel including the Father of the Nation, his martyred family members who were brutally assassinated on 15 August 1975 as well as for the socio-economic development of the country.
The Embassy officers then read out the messages of the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister. A documentary on the life of Sheikh Russel was also screened during the programme which was followed by open discussion session.
Mission officials and expatriate Bangladeshis took part in the discussion reminiscing the life of Sheikh Russel.
Following the discussion session, the Embassy arranged recitations of poems and art programme for the children on Sheikh Russel, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh. The Ambassador then gave away prizes to the children participated in the recitations and art competition.
In his speech, Ambassador M. Delwar Hossain paid rich tribute to the memory of Shaheed Sheikh Russel including the Father of the Nation, his martyred family members.
In his speech, the Ambassador said that Sheikh Russel’s life is ideal and exemplary for us, especially for children. On the occasion of ‘Sheikh Russel Day’, the Ambassador expressed hope that everyone would work together to ensure that children grow up safely and get the opportunity to develop their latent talents.
The Ambassador then cut the cake with the cheerful children. The programme ended with a dinner with traditional Bengali cuisine.
