Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent celebrates Sheikh Russel Day, 58th Birthday of the Son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent officially celebrated Sheikh Russel Day, 58th Birthday of the Son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 18th October 2021 (Monday) with due solemnity and enthusiasm.
Events started with placing flower bouquet on Shaheed Sheikh Russel`s portrait set up in the Bangabandhu corner of the Chancery. One minute silence was observed on the memory of Sheikh Russel and his martyred family members.
Written message from Hon`ble President was read out by spouse of Bangladesh Ambassador Ms. Ummul Fatema and message of Hon`ble Prime Minister by Mr. Nripendra Chandra Debnath, Minister and DCM.
A documentary film on Shaheed Sheikh Russel was screened. Freedom fighter and Engineer Mr. Golam Nobi, Engineer Sirajul Islam from Bangladesh Community took part in the discussion.
A special dua was conducted by Mr. Md Yousuf Nizami AO(Accounts) for the departed soul of Shaheed Sheikh Russel.
Bangladesh Ambassador H.E. Md Zahangir Alam delivered a speech. In his speech H.E. Md Zahangir Alam paid deep homage to the sacrifice that the Bangabandhu’s family made for the emancipation of the Bengali people especially mentioning the loss of Shaheed Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu who was brutally killed by the miscreants. “Sheikh Russel is like a flower which was nipped in the bud, is the eternal source of inspiration of millions of children in our country” – he mentioned.
To celebrate the event in a befitting manner, the Embassy held drawing competition among children from different nationalities on Sheikh Russels`s portrait.
First position went to Miss. Fariha Marjan of Cambridge International School, second place to Miss. Bushra Kazi Tasnia of Bengali community and third position went to Miss. Mo’tabar Athamova from Mirzo Ulugbek International School.
Second competition was ball throwing into the basket. And in this competition, first position went to Miss. Mo’tabar Athamova from Mirzo Ulugbek International School, second place went to Mr. Nabi Yusuf of Bengali community and third position to Miss. Nazokat Athamova from Mirzo Ulugbek International School.
All participants of the contest were awarded with prizes. The spouse of Bangladesh Ambassador Ms. Ummul Fatema presented the prizes to all participants. Caps with logo of Sheikh Russel were also distributed among all the guests present on this occasion.
The program ended with serving Bengali and Uzbek cuisine to the invited guests.
