e-CAB Election: Ogrogami Panel unveils its manifesto

Pledges to create 10 lac new jobs in two years, in addition to taking the e-commerce industry to a 5 billion dollar industry

• Various initiatives for skill development of members, ensuring priority services and establishment of smart secretariat
• Formulation of ‘Cross Border Policy’ and popularization of digital payments to take local products and entrepreneurs to international level
• Establishment of a startup academy and incubation center for improving the quality of local start-ups, making them investment-friendly and ensuring global connectivity.
• Establishment of e-Business Support Center and arranging loans for financing new companies
• Take e-commerce penetration to 4% from 1%
• To take initiative and implement entrepreneur-friendly policy
• Skill development of women entrepreneurs and increase participation of women in e-commerce sector to 50 percent

[Dhaka, June 3, 2022] Ogrogami Panel has announced its manifesto ahead of the upcoming e-CAB elections. The announcement was made at FARS Hotel and Resorts in the capital recently.

Two most successful entrepreneurs in the e-commerce and logistics sector of the country respectively – Ambareen Reza, Co-founder and Managing Director of foodpanda Bangladesh and Shahriar Hasan, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Paperfly Limited, unveiled the manifesto of Ogrogami Panel in presence of journalists. In addition to expanding the scope of professional development and institutional support for members, the manifesto emphasizes cross-border policy and popularization of digital payments for the expansion of the e-commerce sector.

Various initiatives will be taken to provide priority services to the members and improve their skills. In addition, Ambareen Reza announced the establishment of a startup academy and incubation center to develop the startup ecosystem; in the process, take new entrepreneurs forward in the e-commerce sector. It will be the job of the startup academy to increase the global connectivity of local startups, connect them with investors and make them more efficient through various types of training. In short, all kinds of support and mentorship will be provided for a startup to move forward globally.

Shahriar Hasan, Co-founder of Paperfly, raised the issue of entrepreneur-friendly policies and promised to take necessary steps to formulate entrepreneur-friendly policies. In addition, discussions and workshops will be organized for entrepreneurs to keep them aware of digital security. Above all, the entrepreneur promises that e-CAB will play a leading role in taking the e-commerce companies of Bangladesh to the world market within the next four years.

Referring to the issue of increasing women’s participation, and a member-friendly e-CAB, Shomi Kaiser, the leader of Ogrogami Panel, said, “We want to establish e-CAB as a member-friendly, inclusive organization. In addition, to ensure gender equality, we have set a goal to increase the participation of women among e-CAB members to 50 percent. We will work to increase the number of women entrepreneurs as well as improve the skills of the members. In addition, we want to build a strong workforce with the participation of skilled manpower and members who will take our country’s e-commerce sector forward.”

Putting emphasis on digital payments, Abdul Wahed Tamal, one of the members of Ogrogami Panel, said, “We are committed to taking necessary steps to organize e-CAB’s ever-increasing activities and strengthen the organization’s own secretariat-based activities. Through which, I believe that it will be possible to meet the present and future needs. We will take various initiatives to popularize Cross Border Policy and digital payments to take Bangladesh’s e-commerce sector to the international level.”

Stakeholders from tech sector, including members of Ogrogami Panel, were present during the announcement of manifesto. Leading panel members are: Shomi Kaiser (Dhansiri Digital), Mohammad Abdul Wahed Tamal (Computer Jagat), Mohammad Sahab Uddin Shipon (Diabetes Store), Nasima Akter (Revery), Asif Ahnaf (Breakbyt), Mohammad Saidur Rahman (Digital Hub), MD Ruhul Kuddus Chhotan (Focus Frame), Shahriar Hasan (Paperfly) and Ambareen Reza (foodpanda).

The e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) election will be held on June 18. There are 795 voters in this election.

ইক্যাব নির্বাচন ২০২২: ইশতেহার ঘোষণা অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের

দুই বছরের মধ্যে দশ লক্ষ নতুন কর্মসংস্থান ও ৫ বিলিয়ন ডলারের ই-কমার্স ইন্ডাস্ট্রি তৈরির প্রতিশ্রুতি অগ্রগামীর  

• প্রাধান্য পাবে সদস্যদের দক্ষতা উন্নয়নে বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ, অগ্রাধিকার সেবা নিশ্চিত করা ও স্মার্ট সেক্রেটারিয়েট প্রতিষ্ঠা,
• দেশীয় পণ্য ও উদ্যোক্তাদের আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে নেওয়ার জন্য ‘ক্রস বর্ডার পলিসি’ প্রণয়ন ও ডিজিটাল পেমেন্টকে জনপ্রিয় করা,
• ই-কমার্সের পেনিট্রেশান ১ শতাংশ থেকে ৪ শতাংশে নেয়া,
• দেশীয় স্টার্ট-আপের মানোন্নয়ন, বিনিয়োগের উপযোগী করে তোলা ও গ্লোবাল কানেক্টিভিটির জন্য স্টার্টআপ অ্যাকাডেমি ও ইনকিউবেশন সেন্টার প্রতিষ্ঠা,
• ই-বিজনেস সাপোর্ট সেন্টার স্থাপন ও নতুন প্রতিষ্ঠানে অর্থায়নে ঋণের ব্যবস্থা করা,
• উদ্যোক্তাবান্ধব নীতি প্রণয়নের উদ্যোগ নেয়া ও বাস্তবায়ন, এবং
• নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন ও ই-কমার্স খাতে তাদের অংশগ্রহণ ৫০ শতাংশে উন্নীত করা।

ই-ক্যাব কার্যনির্বাহী কমিটির নির্বাচন সামনে রেখে সম্প্রতি রাজধানীর একটি হোটেলে আগামী দুই বছরের (২০২২-২০২৪) জন্য অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের ভিশন ও নির্বাচনী ইশতেহার ঘোষণা করা হয়। দেশের ই-কমার্স খাতের অন্যতম সফল উদ্যোক্তা ফুডপ্যান্ডা বাংলাদেশের সহ-প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক আম্বারীন রেজা অগ্রগামীর ‘মিশন ২০২৬’ তুলে ধরেন। 

ই-কমার্স খাতে গত কয়েক বছরের অগ্রগতির চিত্র তুলে ধরে আম্বারীন রেজা বলেন ‘নির্বাচিত হলে আগামী দুই বছরের মধ্যে পাঁচ বিলিয়ন ডলার ও দশ লক্ষ কর্মসংস্থানের ই-কমার্স ইন্ডাস্ট্রি গড়ার লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নিয়ে কাজ করবো আমরা।’

এর পাশাপাশি স্টার্টআপ ইকোসিস্টেমের উন্নয়নে ও ই-কমার্সে নতুন উদ্যোক্তাদের এগিয়ে নিতে একটি স্টার্টআপ অ্যাকাডেমি ও ইনকিউবেশন সেন্টার স্থাপন করার ঘোষণা দেন আম্বারীন রেজা। দেশীয় স্টার্টআপের গ্লোবাল কানেক্টিভিটি বাড়ানো, ইনভেস্টরদের সাথে সংযোগ তৈরি করা, বিভিন্ন ধরণের প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়ে তাদের আরও দক্ষ করা এগুলো হবে সেই স্টার্টআপ অ্যাকাডেমির কাজ। এক কথায়, একটা স্টার্টআপকে গ্লোবালি এগিয়ে নিতে সবধরণের সহায়তা ও মেন্টরশিপের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে ই-ক্যাবের মাধ্যমে।

অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের ইশতেহার ঘোষণা করেন দেশের লজিস্টিকস খাতের অন্যতম সফল উদ্যোক্তা পেপারফ্লাই লিমিটডের সহ-প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও প্রধান নির্বাহী শাহরিয়ার হাসান। সদস্যদের জন্য অগ্রাধিকার সেবা ও তাদের দক্ষতার উন্নয়নে বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করা হবে জানিয়ে শাহরিয়ার হাসান বলেন, ‘সদস্যদের জন্য প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক সহায়তার পরিধি বাড়ানো হবে ও উদ্যোক্তাবান্ধব নীতিমালা প্রণয়নে প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা হবে। পাশাপাশি, ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা বিষয়ে উদ্যোক্তাদের সচেতন রাখতে তাদের জন্য আলোচনা ও কর্মশালা আয়োজন করা হবে। সর্বোপরি, দীর্ঘমেয়াদে আগামী চার বছরের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশের ই-কমার্স প্রতিষ্ঠানকে বিশ্ব বাজারে নিয়ে যেতে ই-ক্যাব অগ্রণী ভূমিকা পালন করবে।’

নারীর অংশগ্রহণ বৃদ্ধি ও সদস্যবান্ধব ইক্যাবের কথা উল্লেখ করে অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের প্রধান শমী কায়সার বলেন, ‘আমরা ইক্যাবকে একটি সদস্যবান্ধব অন্তর্ভূক্তিমূলক সংগঠন হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে চাই। পাশাপাশি, জেন্ডার সমতা নিশ্চিত করার জন্য আমরা ই-ক্যাবের সদস্যদের মধ্যে নারীদের অংশগ্রহণ ৫০ শতাংশে উন্নীত করার লক্ষ্য ঠিক করেছি। নারী উদ্যোক্তার সংখ্যা বাড়ানোসহ সদস্যদের দক্ষতা উন্নয়নেও কাজ করবো। এছাড়া, আমরা দক্ষ জনবল ও সদস্যদের অংশগ্রহণে একটি শক্তিশালী কর্মীবাহিনী গড়ে তুলতে চাই, যারা আমাদের দেশের ই-কমার্স খাতকে সামনে এগিয়ে নেবে।’

ডিজিটাল পেমেন্টের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করে অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের অন্যতম সদস্য আব্দুল ওয়াহেদ তমাল বলেন, ‘ই-ক্যাবের প্রসারমাণ কার্যক্রমকে সুসংহত করতে ও সংগঠনের নিজস্ব সচিবালয় ভিত্তিক কার্যক্রমকে শক্তিশালী করতে প্রয়োজনীয় উদ্যোগ গ্রহণে আমরা আমাদের প্রতিশ্রুতি ব্যক্ত করেছি। যার মাধ্যমে বর্তমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ চাহিদা পূরণ করা সম্ভব হবে বলে আমি বিশ্বাস করি। বাংলাদেশের ই- কমার্স খাতকে আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য আমরা ‘ক্রস বর্ডার পলিসি’ ও ডিজিটাল পেমেন্টকে জনপ্রিয় করতে বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করবো।’

ইশতেহার ঘোষণার সময় অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের সদস্যসহ প্রযুক্তি খাত সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অগ্রগামী প্যানেলের সদস্যরা হচ্ছেন- শমী কায়সার (ধানসিঁড়ি ডিজিটাল), মোহাম্মদ আব্দুল ওয়াহেদ তমাল (কম্পিউটার জগৎ), মোহাম্মদ সাহাব উদ্দিন শিপন (ডায়াবেটিস স্টোর), নাসিমা আক্তার (রিভারি), আসিফ আহনাফ (ব্রেকবাইট), মোহাম্মদ সাইদুর রহমান (ডিজিটাল হাব), এম ডি রুহুল কুদ্দুস ছোটন (ফোকাস ফ্রেম), শাহরিয়ার হাসান (পেপার ফ্লাই) এবং সৈয়দা আম্বারীন রেজা (ফুডপ্যান্ডা)। 

উল্লেখ্য, আগামী ১৮ জুন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে ই-কমার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব বাংলাদেশের (ইক্যাব) নির্বাচন। এ নির্বাচনে ভোটার রয়েছেন ৭৯৫ জন।
