Grameenphone received LTU-VAT award

Dhaka December 14 2021 :

Grameenphone has been awarded for resolving the highest number of cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in FY 2020-2021. Jens Becker, CFO of Grameenphone, received the award on behalf of the company at an award-giving ceremony organized by Large Taxpayers Unit – Value Added Tax (LTU-VAT) as part of the VAT Week (December 10 to 15) celebration.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a process of resolving disputes within shortest possible time, beyond the traditional courses of business followed by Appeal, Tribunal, and Court formalities, leading to efficiency. Following a global trend of success, tax administration in Bangladesh has introduced ADR in FY 2011-12.

This year NBR is celebrating the VAT Day and VAT Week to encourage people and organizations with the theme – “Pay VAT online, take part in nation building”. Ms. Wahida Rahman Chowdhury, Commissioner of LTU-VAT, Chaired the event and handed over the award to Grameenphone.

“We are honored and humbled to be awarded for resolving the highest number of cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in this fiscal year, and we will continue to resolve the remaining issues together as one team,” said Jens Becker.

“However, it would not have been possible without the support from the government in embracing technology, increasing efficiency through automation and encouraging a culture of transparency. We would like to thank LTU-VAT for inspiring us with such recognitions. Moreover, as a responsible corporate entity, Grameenphone practices the highest ethical standards and maintain accountability, integrity and transparency in everything we do. We always seek to explore and unfold the possibilities in every trend that has the potential to contribute to nation-building.”

Mr. Arif Uddin, Director and Head of Financial Controlling and Taxation and Mr. Mohammed Kayum Sarker, Head of Value Added Tax (VAT) from Grameenphone were present at the ceremony, alongside respected officials from various organizations.
