Ambassador Alex Berg von Linde participated at the Inspiring Women Volunteer Award 2022 on August 23 2022.
The event aimed at recognizing the invaluable contributions of women volunteers in Bangladesh in the areas of gender equality and community development.
Sweden is a long-standing supporter of volunteerism initiatives globally. In her remarks, the Ambassador stressed the significance that volunteerism has played a in advancing and improving societies and the role of volunteerism to promote gender equality: “When women are given the equal ability to contribute it is good for the family. It is good for the community. It is good for sustainable development”.
Md Tazul Islam, MP, Minister, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives was present as Chief Guest. The ceremony saw representation from the Govt, NGOs, INGOs, VIOs, CSOs, UN, youth, women-led organizations, civil society and other key stakeholders, said a recent release by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangladesh.
