Lavrov met President of Ethiopia

Dhaka July 27 2022 :

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde, Addis Ababa, July 27, 2022.

Madam President,

I would like to convey the best regards from President of Russia Vladimir Putin to you and to Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed. Yesterday I had a short meeting with my colleague, Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnnen. We reaffirmed our commitment to the further development of bilateral relations and discussed ways to coordinate our efforts at the UN and other international organisations.

We highly value our relations with Ethiopia, which have a long and positive history. We have supported each other under difficult circumstances during various periods in history.
