Patricia Danzi met with women leaders of Aparajita programme

 

Dhaka December 21 2021 :

 

In Cox’s Bazar district, Director General of Swiss Development & Cooperation Ms. Patricia Danzi along with Ambassador Nathalie Chuard met with women leaders from Switzerland-supported Aparajita programme that focuses on political empowement of rural women.

Female community leaders of the Aparajita Network discussed about existing barriers to Gender Equality and the political empowerment of minorities and women.

The Swiss delegation also met with enthusiastic youth from Surutia Senior Madrasah who are provided life skills education under the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund of Switzerland, that aims to strengthen resilience against violent extremist through community level initiatives. These meetings are a great opportunity to connect with the people of Bangladesh & see the Swiss projects in action.

Director General of Swiss Development & Cooperation Patricia Danzi visited the Rohingya refugee camps to assess the humanitarian conditions in Cox’s Bazar on December 20 2021.

The delegation met with women leaders from refugees and host communities at the Switzerland-supported UN Women Bangladesh‘s multi-purpose center – a plaform that addresses issues such as child marriage, gender based violence and trafficking. The team also met with Rohingya environmental youth group members UNHCR in Bangladesh to explore workable solutions to ecological issues in the refugee camps.
