The two day long conference of Citizen’s Platform for SDGs ended on Monday
Dhaka December 13 2021:
Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, along with Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and other Partner Organisations, is organising a two days long Conference titled Bangladesh Emerging from the Pandemic: Coping Experiences and Policy Choices.
The two day long conference had been organised to share some of these scholarly works for further dissemination and validation.
On Monday, the second day of the conference held at a city hotel was introduced through a plenary session titled ‘Implications of COVID for the Labour Market’ and it was introduced by remarks of Co-Chair Asif Ibrahim, Core Group Member, Citizen’s Platform and Vice-Chairman, New Age Group and Industries .
Presentation on ‘Responding to COVID 19: Findings on Employment Related Adjustments from Household Survey in Bangladesh’ was delivered by Professor Mustafizur Rahman, core group member, Citizen’s Platform and Distinguished Fellow, CPD.
Dr Sharmind Neelormi Professor, Department of Economics Jahangirnagar University and Dr Minhaj Mahmud, Senior Research Fellow Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) had delivered remarks as discussants.
The session was ended through a open discussion and closing remarks by Co-Chair Syed Nasim Manzur, Core Group Member, Citizen’s Platform and Managing Director, Apex Footwear Limited
The closing session of the conference was introduced by remarks by the chair of the session Parveen Mahmud FCA Member, CPD Board of Trustees and Chairperson, UCEP Bangladesh.
Presentation on Bangladesh Emerging from the Pandemic: Towards an Inclusive and Equitable Transition was made by Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya Convenor, Citizen’s Platform and Distinguished Fellow, CPD.
Special Commentators were Dr Zahid Hussain, eminent economist and Dr Rounaq Jahan, Distinguished Fellow, CPD.
After an open discussion on the session, remark by the Special Guest was delivered by Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud Eminent Economist and Former Advisor to the Caretaker Government.
The Chief Guest of the session was Professor Rehman Sobhan Founding Chair, CPD delivered conclusive remarks.
