Universal College Bangladesh celebrates its very first graduation ceremony

 Universal College Bangladesh (UCB), the exclusive partner of Monash College, Australia in Bangladesh and the country’s only Ministry of Education-approved international education provider, has celebrated the graduation ceremony of its very first batch on July 7, 2022.

This grand event marks a historic milestone in the education space of Bangladesh, where Bangladeshi students would be officially getting international degree program certifications of the international pathway programs that are available at Universal College Bangladesh. The event was held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden.

H E Jeremy Bruer – High Commissioner of Australia to Bangladesh; Andrew Walker – Pro Vice Chancellor and President, Monash University Malaysia; Board Members of STS Group; Bob Kundanmal – Chairman, STS Group and Eduko Bangladesh; CEO of Eduko Bangladesh – Dr Sandeep Ananthanarayana; Dean of Academic Affairs Professor – Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Head of  Marketing – Amid Hossain Chowdhury, Head of Enrolment Jamal Uddin Jamy, distinguished faculty and other key UCB staffs, heads of leading schools were present during the ceremony, among other respected officials, guests, and students.

The program commenced with the welcoming words of the Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, followed by the inaugural address by Dr. Sandeep Ananthanarayanan, the Chief Executive Officer of Eduko Bangladesh. The ceremony was graced by the words of the High Commissioner of Australia to Bangladesh, H E Jeremy Bruer. “Bangladesh has a growing need for education services to help build a highly-skilled workforce for the future.

Australia’s educational institutions, like Monash College, are well-equipped to help provide access to a world-class education, right here in Bangladesh”, said the High Commissioner. “I thank all the management and staff of UCB and Monash College for their role in delivering such a high standard of education. I wish all the graduates well in their future endeavors,” he added.

Director Zarif Munir also congratulated and expressed his best wishes to the new graduates. He remarked, “I am incredibly proud to witness the first batch of UCB graduates find success and stride confidently into the future, accompanied by their new lessons and skills. We stand proud today to honor your achievements”.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia, Andrew Walker, shared, “Our aim at Monash University is to produce responsible, creative and critical citizens who can bring new perspectives to the many challenges faced by our local and global communities. During your time at UCB, you have acquired new knowledge and skills which, at times, may have taken you beyond your intellectual comfort zone. It’s now up to you to put this experience to work in pursuit of life-long learning.”

A special video was shown during the event, reminiscing precious moments of the graduating class, which left the students and the guests in a state of nostalgia. The valedictorian’s speech preceded the Honor Roll and formal graduation award presentation. The ceremony came to an end as the graduate students finally threw their mortarboards off in the air.

ইউনিভার্সাল কলেজ বাংলাদেশের প্রথম গ্র্যাজুয়েশন সেরেমনি উদযাপন

গতকাল (৭ জুলাই) নিজেদের প্রথম ব্যাচের গ্র্যাজুয়েশন সেরেমনি উদযাপন করেছে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় অনুমোদিত দেশের একমাত্র আন্তর্জাতিক শিক্ষা প্রদানকারী প্রতিষ্ঠান এবং বাংলাদেশে মোনাশ কলেজ অস্ট্রেলিয়ার একমাত্র অংশীদার ইউনিভার্সাল কলেজ বাংলাদেশ (ইউসিবি)। ঐতিহাসিক এই অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন দেশের শিক্ষাক্ষেত্রে এক অনন্য মাইলফলক। বাংলাদেশের শিক্ষার্থীরা এখন ইউসিবির মাধ্যমে দেশে বসেই আন্তর্জাতিক ডিগ্রি প্রোগ্রামে অংশগ্রহণ করে সনদ অর্জন করতে পারছেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি র‍্যাডিসন ব্লু ঢাকা ওয়াটার গার্ডেনে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাংলাদেশ নিযুক্ত অস্ট্রেলিয়ার হাই কমিশনার জেরেমি ব্রুয়ের (হিজ এক্সেলেন্সি), মোনাশ ইউনিভার্সিটি মালয়েশিয়ার প্রো-ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর ও প্রেসিডেন্ট অ্যান্ড্রু ওয়াকার, এসটিএস গ্রুপের বোর্ডের সদস্যবৃন্দ, এসটিএস গ্রুপ ও এডুকো বাংলাদেশ’র চেয়ারম্যান বব কুনদানমাল, এডুকো বাংলাদেশ’র সিইও ড. সন্দীপ অনন্তনারায়াণন, ডিন অব অ্যাকাডেমিক অ্যাফেয়ার্স অধ্যাপক সারওয়ার উদ্দিন আহমেদ, হেড অব মার্কেটিং আমিদ হোসাইন চৌধুরী, হেড অব এনরোলমেন্ট জামাল উদ্দিন জেমি, সম্মানিত ফ্যাকাল্টিবৃন্দ, ইউসিবির কর্মকর্তাগণ, শীর্ষস্থানীয় বিভিন্ন স্কুলের প্রধান, অন্যান্য সম্মানিত অতিথি এবং শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ।

শুভেচ্ছা বক্তব্যের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানটি শুরু করেন ডিন অব অ্যাকাডেমিক অ্যাফেয়ার্স অধ্যাপক সারওয়ার উদ্দিন আহমেদ। অনুষ্ঠানে উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্য দেন এডুকো বাংলাদেশ’র সিইও ড. সন্দীপ অনন্তনারায়াণন। অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত অস্ট্রেলিয়ার হাই কমিশনার জেরেমি ব্রুয়ের। তিনি বলেন, “বাংলাদেশে ভবিষ্যতে দক্ষ জনশক্তি গড়ে তোলার প্রয়োজনীয়তা ক্রমশই বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। বাংলাদেশেই বিশ্বমানের শিক্ষা অর্জনে সহায়তা করতে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার মোনাশ কলেজের মতো শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান প্রস্তুত আছে। উন্নতমানের শিক্ষা প্রদানের ক্ষেত্রে অবদান রাখায় ইউসিবি ও মোনাশ কলেজের ব্যবস্থাপনা কর্তৃপক্ষ এবং কর্মীদের আমি ধন্যবাদ দিতে চাই। সকল স্নাতকদের তাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য শুভকামনা।”

অনুষ্ঠানে পরিচালক জারিফ মুনির সদ্য গ্রাজুয়েটদের অভিনন্দন জানান এবং তার শুভকামনা জানিয়ে বক্তব্য দেন। তিনি বলেন, “ইউসিবি গ্র্যাজুয়েটদের প্রথম ব্যাচ সফলতা অর্জন করায় নিজেকে গর্বিত মনে করছি। নতুন জ্ঞান ও দক্ষতায় আত্মবিশ্বাসী হয়ে তারা উজ্জ্বল ভবিষ্যতের দিকে এগিয়ে যাবে। আপনাদের অর্জনকে সম্মান জানাতে পেরে আমরা গর্বিত।”

মোনাশ ইউনিভার্সিটি মালয়েশিয়ার প্রো-ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর অ্যান্ড্রু ওয়াকার বলেন, “মোনাশ ইউনিভার্সিটি’তে আমাদের লক্ষ্য দায়িত্বশীল, সৃষ্টিশীল এবং সমৃদ্ধ নাগরিক তৈরি করা, যারা স্থানীয় ও বৈশ্বিক সমাজের নানা সমস্যার উদ্ভাবনী সমাধানে কাজ করবে। আপনারা নিজেদের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিক গণ্ডি থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে ইউসিবি থেকে নতুন জ্ঞান ও দক্ষতা অর্জন করেছেন। এই জ্ঞান কাজে লাগিয়ে জীবনব্যাপী শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করার সিদ্ধান্ত এখন আপনাদের।”

অনুষ্ঠান চলাকালে গ্র্যাজুয়েশন সম্পন্ন করা শিক্ষার্থীদের স্বর্ণালি মুহুর্তগুলো একটি বিশেষ ভিডিওতে দেখানো হয়। অনার রোল এবং গ্র্যাজুয়েশন পুরস্কার বিতরণ করার সময় ভ্যালেডিক্টোরিয়ান তার বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন। সবশেষে শিক্ষার্থীদের বাতাসে মর্টারবোর্ড (গ্র্যাজুয়েশন ক্যাপ) উড়িয়ে দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানের সমাপ্তি হয়।
