Youth demanded social & climate justice, incorporation for SDGs implementation

Citizens Platform for SDGs Bangladesh on Thursday organized a day-long conference titled ‘Youth and SDGs: Standing Today, Thinking Tomorrow’ in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Bangladesh and United Nations Poverty-Environment Action at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), Dhaka.
Students of public and private universities of Bangladesh participated in the conference with enthusiasm .
The conference held in parallel sessions on the six goals of SDG, namely poverty alleviation and social protection; climate action; peace, justice and effective institutions; gender equality; Modest consumption and production, decent work and economic growth.
The main objective of the conference was to involve students in the promotion and dissemination of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) so that their voices are reflected in the process of national policy formulation and implementation.
MA Mannan, Minister of Planning attended in the inaugural session of the Conference as the Chief Guest. Stephan Lillier, Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh was present as a special guest in the inaugural session.
The concluding session of the conference was attended by Gwynne Lewis, Resident Coordinator, UN Bangladesh as special guest and Mejbah Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports was the chief guest during the session.
Apart from the students of public and private universities, youth representatives from different parts of Bangladesh, youth organizers, leaders of civil platform affiliates, international development partners, public and private sector representatives and media, among others, took part in the conference.
